Building a New Home for Flite Test and Its Community

Lauren International company, Flite Test, has thrived around a virtual community of radio-control aviation enthusiasts since it launched on YouTube in 2010.

Beginning in 2018, that community will have a physical home in Minerva, Ohio.

“We are grateful to combine everything that makes Flite Test special in one location where we can engage and create with our incredible Flite Test family,” said Josh Bixler, president of Flite Test.

Flite Test created a three-year plan to transform a former golf course into its new headquarters and a destination location for all things flight.

Thanks to an IndieGoGo crowdfunding campaign earlier this year, that plan has been accelerated. Flite Test exceeded their fundraising goal in less than a week, backed by over 2,300 passionate Flite Test community members, enabling the company to begin construction on their new headquarters in 2018.

“None of this would be possible without the support of our community,” said Stefan Ostergren, Flite Test community manager. “We’re blessed to have over 800,000 global community members in our Flite Test family to help make this dream a reality.”

The new location, dubbed Edgewater Airpark, will be home to Flite Test’s primary operations later this year. As the land is developed over the next three years, it will also become a destination location for the Flite Test community to build, fly and make memories together.

In the long-term, Edgewater Airpark will also include an onsite hobby shop/maker space, camping amenities and multiple flight areas/runways for all types of aviation. After the property-wide infrastructure is built, Edgewater Airpark will also become the permanent home of future Flite Fest Ohio events.

“This project is all about bringing the incredible, positive community culture together in one location year-round,” Bixler continued. “Edgewater Airpark will be a playground for fellowship and flight, and we’re thrilled to make this dream a reality for our community.”
