FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Date: April 2005 Contact: Mike Hovan 800.233.4383 DALE LAUREN FOLAND ANNOUNCES RETIREMENT NEW PHILADELPHIA, OHIO — April 28, 2005, at the Lauren International Shareholder’s meeting, Dale Lauren Foland was happy to announce his retirement as Chief Executive Officer of Lauren International, Inc. Kevin E. Gray has been elected as the new Chief Executive Officer of Lauren International, Inc. Mr. Foland will stay on as Chairman of the Board. Dale Lauren Foland began his career in the early 1950's with the Hamilton Kent Company of Kent, Ohio. In 1956, while Foland was with the company branch in Ontario, Canada, the home office purchased new equipment to manufacture continuous rubber extrusions. When they were able to extrude rubber profitably, Foland asked for the opportunity to return to Ohio and try to improve the process. He was given the go-ahead while the company sought a suitable buyer for the equipment. Within a short time, Foland dramatically increased productivity, doubled sales, and began turning a profit on the new system. It was during this time that Foland developed a method for the continuous extrusion of sponge profiles - a method still widely used today. In 1965, after a year of working as a consultant in the extrusion industry, and with only $7,000 in his pocket, Foland formed Lauren Manufacturing Company in the back of a garage. Over the next few years, Foland designed and built much of his own equipment and developed many of the systems still used at Lauren today. The company has always worked with a variety of compounds and materials, but it was Foland's work in successfully developing sponge extrusion techniques that made Lauren a lasting success in the industry.
