Community Involvement

As a socially responsible and learning-based organization, we recognize the interconnectedness of all people, companies and communities. To that end, we strive to contribute positively toward the betterment of the communities in which we operate by supporting initiatives that focus on education, health and wellness, and community responsibility.

Education

Education – from the elementary school level all the way through college – is a key focus of our leadership team. Through unique, on-site programs and university partnerships, we provide education and training opportunities that not only benefit the individual, but ultimately benefit the communities in which they live.

Specific examples include:

  • Kent State University Technology Center – Lauren International contributed $500,000 toward the construction of the Science and Advanced Technology Center on the Tuscarawas campus of Kent State University. The facility vastly expanded the university’s engineering, science and nursing programs, and laboratory capabilities for use by students, local businesses and the community.
  • Ashland University MBA Program – Lauren supports Ashland University and the Tuscarawas-area community by serving as a satellite location for a hybrid online Master's in Business Administration program.
  • Malone College Accelerated Bachelor’s Degree Program – Lauren provides classroom space and marketing services in support of an accelerated, 14-month bachelor’s degree program for area residents.
  • Stark State College – Lauren hosts technical training opportunities for Lauren engineers through Stark State College. A recent program focused on integrating technology for process control.
  • Project Lead The Way – Lauren partners with local high schools as part of a nationwide initiative to promote engineering-related courses and careers. Project Lead The Way consists of engineering-based curriculum, often taught by Lauren engineers, throughout the freshman, sophomore, junior and senior years of high school. Completion of all four years is equivalent to one year of engineering school at Kent State University.
  • Ongoing Support for Area Elementary, Middle and High Schools – Lauren historically provides funding assistance, guest speakers, classroom visits and many other forms of support, as needed, for area schools at all academic levels.
  • Internships and Mentoring Programs – Lauren strongly believes in providing meaningful work experience for local high school and college students via internships and professional mentoring, and often hires permanent staff through these programs.

Health and Wellness

At Lauren, our concern about the individual transcends throughout our company, our customers and the communities in which we live and do business. One of our core values is to promote healthy living, both among our employees and by supporting local health and wellness initiatives.

Locally, our support is evident throughout the community, specifically with local hospitals, Twin City Hospital and Union Hospital, as well as the Cambridge and Tuscarawas YMCAs.

Community Responsibility

Understanding that we have a responsibility to the community, Lauren supports programs that have a lasting impact on our fellow citizens. Our employees are caring individuals who live by these same values.

Evidence of our involvement is apparent throughout the community in a number of initiatives, including strong endorsement and participation at the corporate and individual level in the United Way. Additionally, employees are active participants in American Cancer Society Relay for Life events, Teddy Bear Motorcycle Runs and countless other sponsorships and contributions to community initiatives.
