Edgetech Celebrates More Than 20 Years of Success

On December 1, 1989, Edgetech I.G. Inc. was incorporated as a wholly owned subsidiary of New Philadelphia-based Lauren Manufacturing, bringing a product to market that would forever change the fenestration industry. Founded upon a dedication to quality and exceptional customer service, Edgetech’s core group of innovators – most of whom are still with the company today – worked together to successfully establish Super Spacer® as the leading warm edge spacer system for producing some of the most energy efficient and sustainable insulating glass windows in the world.

To celebrate the company’s success and ongoing dedication to the community in which it operates, to its employees and to the global fenestration industry, Edgetech held an anniversary event at its Cambridge, Ohio, headquarters on December 1st. The celebration began at 9 a.m. with refreshments and words from the company’s leaders past and present, including:

• Dale Lauren Foland, Founder of Lauren International and entrepreneurial spirit behind Edgetech
• Kevin Gray, CEO of Lauren International and Edgetech’s first President
• Michael Glover, Founder of the original Edgetech company and co-inventor of Super Spacer
• Michael Hovan, current President of Edgetech

Also present as special guests for the historic event were various Lauren International employees who were founding members of the Edgetech team who were crucial to making Super Spacer the success that it is today:

• Jim Hamilton and Lisa Huntsman, Chemists who developed the Super Spacer formulas
• Process Engineer who designed and built the specialized equipment still used today to manufacture the product
• Process Engineer and the company’s past Director of Operations
• Erin Johnson, original and current Director of Marketing
• Maurya Shaw, original Human Resources Manager
• Frankie Saho, Process Engineer

“There are many individuals who were responsible for making Edgetech the success that it is today and we are proud that many of them were with us for this great celebration,” said Mike Hovan, President of Edgetech I.G. “Over the years, our employees have worked hard to provide nothing but quality in terms of service and a wide range of product offerings. This celebration is really about them and our collective commitment to making the next 20 years just as great as the first.”

After remarks from Edgetech leaders, the group convened on the production floor for a ribbon cutting ceremony celebrating Edgetech’s newly dedicated extrusion line. Edgetech’s entire team was on hand, including production workers, office personnel and a core team of executives who have been integral to the company’s growth.

“It’s always Edgetech’s mission to raise the bar through quality, dedication and the innovative spirit of the Edgetech 360® Value Promise,” Hovan said. “We hope our customers will join us in the celebration and we look forward to sharing the next 20 years with them as partners and leaders in the industry.”

Edgetech’s History

Edgetech I.G. Inc. was formed in 1989 as a wholly owned subsidiary of Lauren Manufacturing. After substantial growth in its first five years of operations, Edgetech was made autonomous from Lauren Manufacturing as a standalone entity in 1994.  A new holding company, Lauren International, Inc., was formed by CEO and Chairman of the Board, Dale Lauren Foland, for the two divisions – Lauren Manufacturing and Edgetech I.G. Inc.

In that same year, Edgetech’s production was moved from Lauren International’s headquarters in New Philadelphia, Ohio, to its current 476,000 square foot facility located on 66 acres in Cambridge, Ohio. The facility also houses Edgetech’s administrative offices, marketing services group, and extensive research and development laboratory.

In recent years, Edgetech has gained considerable market share internationally through its commitment to educating regulators, window manufacturers and homeowners worldwide on the energy-saving benefits of warm edge technology.

To establish its worldwide presence, the company opened Edgetech UK in Coventry, England, and Edgetech Europe GmbH in Neuss, Germany.  After nearly 300 percent sales growth in the UK between 2003 and 2006, Edgetech opened its first international manufacturing facility in Coventry, England, in July 2007. The $4.4 million investment resulted in a world-class facility to further facilitate the growth of warm edge technology in Europe.

In 2008, Edgetech earned its ISO 9001:2000 certification and in 2009 the company earned six industry awards and was named to the Inc. 5000 list of fastest growing companies for the third consecutive year.
